The Playstation Vita Portable is the newest portable handheld console to be released by Sony Computer Entertainment Company. The first hit handheld console released by them was the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP). Prior to the release of the Vita it was being called the Next Generation Portable (NGP) and was origionally announced on Janurary 27th, 2011 by the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Kazuo Hairai. The reason behind using the name Vita is it means life in Latin. Sony’s take on this is because the new console will drive life into everything from gaming, online and social media connectivity.
